What Happened to Innocence?

Tonight I am feeling a bit frustrated as I think about how certain standards have been lowered in terms of what we accept from others, and what we accept from ourselves. Is everything and everyone tainted? Have we no poise? Are there no longer lines to be crossed? I feel confused. One of the most natural things in the world, has been weaved into matters of uncontrollable urges, and filthy pornographic images, manipulated by money or what we now consider societal norms. I just wish there was still some sort of privacy and intimacy associated with sex. I wonder.... where did the innocence and simplicity go that two people in love share?? Call me old fashioned, but I do have lines to cross and some disturbing things have rattled my cage tonight. ugh.

Can you say Tired??

Well it has been one heck of a weekend and previous week. I returned from Las Vegas on Sunday night. It was another busy trip as Vegas usually is. I was able to watch my best friend receive her well deserved Nursing Pin from the University of Southern Nevada. It was a great experience to share her joy, and witness her achievements. She was also the recipient of the Spirit and Determination Nursing Award. Wowza... she is a go getter. There was a large group of us.. we all received matching T-shirts as a memorabilia of our trip together. I was so excited to see my dear friend Richard. He made it all the way from Hawaii. He is a great person and I have missed him ever since I moved from the Island. Crystal did a great job keeping us all under control until she lost her phone :( That was no good as she had tons of people trying to reach her. We were able to check out "old Vegas" on Freemont street. That was a good time. We went to a night club in the Wynn called XS. It was fancy. I gambled a little and luckily didn't loose anything really. Our hotel was off the strip but very nice, Emily and I roomed together. I loved spending time with my friends. I love Vegas but I don't think I will be back any time soon. I think something near the beach will be more desirable.

So now it is back to the grind of work. Both jobs keep me busy.. I received my acceptance from Sac State for Fall of 2011 so I will be going there soon to finish my degree. Thank goodness. Now that I am working closer to my Dad and Linda's house they have been coming to visit me at Buffalo Wild Wings and drink beer at my bar. They came in yesterday and made friends with all the people at my bar. Everyone likes them..Last week we even went to dinner at Elephant Bar after my shift. It was really nice. We had tons of food and great wine. My dad wouldn't visit much at Cheesecake because it was too far away and they didn't have Bud on tap!! hahah  Now, I have the next few days off work so I intend to relax and then probably next week attempt my taxes. Linda is my usual tax lady but she is retiring and going to teach me how to do it on my own. Hopefully I can get myself some money back!

Now that it is noon.. I suppose I will get up and start unpacking.. from my busy weekend. Happy Tuesday all xoxxoxoxoxox

Its Thankful Thursday Again!!! yay

Good morning all.. Before I begin the usual Thankful Thursday I will give a brief update of what has been going on. 

First, Valentines day turned out to be a hit. I was scheduled to work both my jobs, so needless to say I was not stoked on spending Valentines day pouring drinks for couples all day..without being able to enjoy my own relationship.  Surprisingly enough about halfway into my second shift of the day my beautiful sister showed up with a rose, a go girl, some ROLOS and a wonderful Valentines day card to help me finish out the day. (best sister EVER) SO, it turned out that I made it through the 14 hour day. I came home to my boyfriend who had taken over the kitchen. He made me Brushetta with spaghetti and turkey meatballs. Very delightful. I was tired and hungry so that really hit the spot. Annnnnd to top off my surprise he got me the new Juicy Couture perfume I have been wanting and a new Iphone case. I loved it! I felt very special and appreciated.  

 

Next, I continued the Valentine celebration with my mom and sister. The next day we went to dinner at my favorite restaurant Thai Basil (N4 with Tofu) and (W2 with Tofu) duh! So fresh and good. We had a fabulous dinner then went to see "No Strings Attached" I would NOT recommend it.  It was lame. But being at the movies with my two favorite gals was fun.

I am Thankful for my new cuddle blanket my mom bought me. (if you don't have one you don't know what you are missing) It is from Brookstone. The most cozy thing EVER!!!

I am Thankful for the fact that I made tons of money this week.

I am Thankful for this huge coffee cup my boyfriend bought me a while ago, because I have to refill so much less.

I am Thankful that ABC airs the full episodes of The Bachelor on their website because I totally missed Mondays. 

I am Thankful for the rain.. but only because I have the day off today and don't really need to go outside.

I am Thankful that my back is feeling better.

I am Thankful that I have Saturday and Sunday off this weekend.. WOW that never happens!! 

I am Thankful that I spent quality time with my mom and sister.

Now I just have to try and not shop today.. even though the Galleria and DSW shoes are screaming my name!!

Thankful Thursday

Hello All..

As I did in the past I am going to take a moment to purpose the things I am thankful for and share a few quotes that I find inspirational and am truly trying to remember throughout my days to come. 

So my life is not very interesting to many. I don't do much out of the ordinary.. it is what it is as of now eventful or not and I am thankful anyway:

So I will start by the fabulous tri-tip I had for dinner, very good.

I love the fact that I have a new car and a little light comes on meaning the car must be serviced and I just pull up to Honda and they quickly change oil, etc. (for a price of course)but hey.. keeps my car healthy. 

I am thankful for the new jeans I bought.. a little tight now but I plan to loose this winter weight soon and make em work :)

I am thankful for this lovely heating pad my mom bought me for xmas that I turn on and lay on my back.. soooo relaxing for me. Also, she bought me a new vacuum for xmas and it is awesome. thankful for the fact I was able to use it today and make my carpet look nicer.

I am thankful that I learned about this new website Pinterest and I am on it every morning. It is like the paper for me. I log on and browse through the pin boards with my coffee. so fun. It is invite only so shoot me a email and I will invite you)Great for expression and fashion ideas. 

I am thankful Mean Girls is on right now.. FAV movie ever!!! 

I am thankful for every second I am on the road and am safe driving.. it scares me.

Thankful I had a great talk with my mom on the phone this afternoon. 

Thankful for my 3'oclock nap.

Thankful for my hair dresser. My hair color is awesome.. thanks Jessica!! 

And as always.. thankful that if all else fails.. relationships/friendships/work/irritations... I always have myself to be with (and I am a great person to be around)and my lovely and comfortable bedroom to relax in! Now a few words of wisdom to help me get through my next work day....

Super Bowl Sunday

Well... Today started off interesting. I didn't get enough sleep last night so needless to say I was a bit grumpy this morning. For some reason Sunday is my least favorite day of the week. It always has been. I think partially because I work on Sunday's and the crowd is weird and I hate being at work. Also because it signifies the end of the weekend.. (even though weekends don't mean much to me because I work as a bartender so its not like I am off) and finally I don't go to church, so I certainly don't have that to look forward to. 

The Only good thing about Sunday's is football. (when in season) Today was the Super Bowl, two teams I really don't care about, I like the Raiders so it didn't really matter to me who won however,  I usually root for the under dog, and true to form I wanted the Packers to win!! And they did.. GO PACKERS yay! My dad made great food and we celebrated at his house. I had to work until 4pm but I went over there right after and had a lovely tomato beer and grubbed on ribs and white chicken chili.

My plan for the upcoming week is to partake in yoga at least one time. I have a back injury and really need to get on some stretching and stress relief. I am totally stressed and need to reach a new state of mind and relaxation!!

It's February already???

Wow. time flies when you work a lot. 

February is a special month for a couple reasons.. I will start with the obvious... it is spelled weird right?? Like who would think there is an R in the dang word.. 

Next.. there are only 28 days in this month. Its short and sweet.

Finally, it is the month of LOVE.. we get to remind those that we have in our lives rather they be lovers or friends that we appreciate them and just plain like having them around. (Although I think that Valentines day is a bit of a marketing scam) I still enjoy it. I remember it was one of my favorite holidays as a kid going to school because you got to pick those little mini Valentines cards with candy in them and write one to every kid in your class.. (of course saving the best/favorite one for your bff and perhaps crush of the year) I used to get nervous giving them out.. but loved decorating them at home.. and of course I was sooo excited to receive them. BTW Do kids still do that in school? Or is it outlawed now days like everything else that was cool?? hmmm

So in the original month of February.. I plan to let those around me know how much I adore them.  I am late on my post as it is already the 3rd :( 

Yesterday was a great day for me. I was able to let my mother know how much I adore her..(she knows)  WE went shopping and we had lunch. We rarely do things like that. We got to talk and laugh.. I helped her pick out her first pair of Abercrombie jeans since I gave her my old hand me downs and she loved them so much. Actually she bought 3  NEW pairs. GO mom!! 

Today was just all about working.. and I am ok with that because I just bought my flight to Vegas for next month. My dear friend is graduating Nursing school so I am going to support her and all her achievements!! I have to save for all the fun to come! 

Anyway.. Welcome February 2011.. I am looking forward to a short and sweet month!!
